Movement

Movement

The exploration of movement as an energetic force to heal, connect, center and express our human experience runs through every aspect of my work. During my graduate studies at The University of Texas, a mentor on the dance faculty introduced me to the work of Joseph PIlates and I fell hard for his meditative and repetitive approach to building strength and flexibility, as well as his focus on structural integration.  Personally, I have found movement essential to my own spiritual growth and healing, and my interest in somatic work increases with every community I accompany through either difficult conversations or seasons of transition.  Calming and healing our bodies, beginning with our nervous system, feels essential as a basis for healthy dialogue, strong and settled communities, effective learning, and an active and integrated spiritual life.

I am currently completing my 200 hour yoga instructor training and have been apprenticing in Pilates with East Side Balance since the beginning of 2022.  I often integrate aspects of somatic practice in classes and workshop facilitation, particularly around topics of racial healing or conflict transformation.
